Does this mean you will be bringing your laptop to the bar afterall? Don’t forget to put your pencil and pens in your pocket protector in you short sleeve shirt.

Aaron’s doing the live blogging. I have no idea why it automatically shows every live blog post as me. It’s retarded because Aaron’s logged in as himself when he goes into the Dashboard and edits this stupid thing.

Yes, so far this is Epic BlogFail. Hopefully the game goes better than this. But stay strong, Aaron! We’re all pulling for you! Great success!

Just avoid any Conference USA references and I’ll participate.

  4. woodshederNo Gravatar says:

come on now, sec…of course there will be Conference USA talk. Topics we will discuss tonight include, but not limited to: Case Keenum, 2010 Heisman Trophy Frontrunner; changing the number of teams in the conference baseball tourny from eight to six this year; and which town is more beautiful: Greenville, NC or Hattisburg, MS.

Hey bitches! It’s Matt! Live from Woody’s Tavern in Fort Worth! Two beers in and ready to rock! It’s not as dorky when you type comments with a phone instead of a laptop!

  6. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

They need to start putting Ritalin in Lou Holtz’ water glass.

  7. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

The sooner our staff realizes Gilbert is the guy and we sink or swim with his arm the better. We’ll get smoked with this current game plan.

I don’t think you could concoct a more disasterous scenario to a Longhorn fan than having McCoy go down on the 3rd play from scrimmage. I don’t know if there are a whole lot of options. Defense and Special Teams would need to score a bunch of points to overcome the lack of any type of offense. I just hope we can keep it respectable but I don’t have high hopes. It’s unfortunate a national championship has to be decided in this way.

  9. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

Defense will need to score some points as well as shut them down. Tough assignment.

  10. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

Better not see an interference call against the Horns.

  11. woodshederNo Gravatar says:

    you spoke too soon, sec

  12. NDGirlNo Gravatar says:

Memorable 4th quarter, Aaron? This entire game will be most memorable for me!

And furthermore, I really don’t see how YOU can critique other people’s fashion sense!

  13. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

The kid is showing some moxie.

  14. NDGirlNo Gravatar says:

Looks like you’re getting your wish for your “memorable 4th quarter” afterall…..

  15. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

I went from thinking at the half that we haven’t scarred Gilbert for life to watching him grow up. It’s in front of us just like 05.

  16. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

It probably sounds Aggie like, but I am proud this team pulled it together after that horrible first half. Gilbert was thrown into the grease and once he had a chance to get acclimated he did just fine. Not a big shocker, but Saban is an ass.

  17. MattNo Gravatar says:

Nothing Aggie like at all about that comment. When it was 24-6 at the half — AFTER THE DUMBEST FUCKING PLAY CALL IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS — I was pissed. Not just because Texas was losing and Colt was out. But because I thought we were being robbed of a good championship game.

Texas showed a lot of heart to get back into the game and make the second half entertaining. It didn’t end well, but Gilbert deserves a lot of credit. I only wish our coaches wouldn’t take so freaking long to have faith in a kid in a situation like that. What do you have to lose? I understand being conservative on drive 1. But over and over again? It becomes self defeating. Because the conservative playcalling leads to failure which could potentially wreck the confidence of the player you’re trying so hard to protect. Once they let Gilbert start taking some shots — yeah he made mistakes, but you could see his confidence grow before your eyes. He started having a little fun out there and then things started to happen for him.

As for the live blog…good job. I agree with almost all of Aaron’s points. And I laughed when I read this live blog this morning because in many cases I said the exact same things during the game.

GG stepped it up and got in a groove and I think we can all say that next October 2…when he’s about to walk down the tunnel for TX/OU…he’s going to look around and say “this ain’t shit. I’ve been on bigger stages before.”

  18. secsuxNo Gravatar says:

The Aggielike part was I felt it might sound like the “we didn’t lose, we just ran out of time” refrain that we hear from time to time from our counterparts to the east. I’ve been in a funk all day with the loss. Colt was all class in his interview with Lisa Salter after the game. The first and last things out of his mouth were congratulations to Alablama Stark contrast from Mark Ingram’s inteview. I hope in the near distance future Mack or Will get another shot at a Saban coached team.

    FYI-RECRUITING NEWS

Press release: Lakota West All-American Linebacker Jordan Hicks will announce his college choice this Friday, January 29th at a press conference held at the school (11:30 CST)

Hick’s final list includes three universities (in alphabetical order) – Florida, Ohio State, and Texas.
    ******

Note: Was able to get a bit more information just now from someone that spoke to a family member. The family apparently sat down and talked last night and Jordan said he’d come to a decision (no, the family member didn’t say where). From there, they put the wheels in motion to do the announcement at the school on Friday.

One person at the school who has been as tied into this one as anyone seems to think very strongly that it’s Texas, although he couldn’t say with 100% certainty.

I talked to our guy at the Ohio State site and even they think it’s Texas, although they too aren’t completely sure.

Here ya go Matt. I thought i would give you an early start on the VT bashing for next year since you did so well with it last year.

  22. MattNo Gravatar says:

I haven’t even made a dent into research for 2010, but my gut feeling is that VaTech will be a serious contender. Last year everyone said VaTech had an “easy” schedule, and I thought that was bullshit. This year I think they do have an easier schedule. That Boise State opener is a genius move. BSU is a good team, but that’s going to be an incredibly tough venue for the Broncos. And VT will be sky high — it’s the opposite of the Hokies’ ill fated trip to the Georgia Dome last year vs Bama.

If they win that one (extremely likely), they will get a big bounce off of that win. The schedule is then cake until that very tough two week stretch in November (@ UNC and @ Miami). That’s the season right there.

I don’t see more than 2 losses on that schedule even if they have some of the same problems from 09 (injuries, inconsistent offense, etc). I can’t say for sure until I take a close look at all the teams, but right now I’d say it’s perfectly reasonable to consider them a Top 10 / MNC contender next year.

Again, I didn’t “bash” VT because I hate them or something.
