File this under “WTF?”

Mike Leach is suspended by Texas Tech and will not coach the Alamo Bowl, due to (per ESPN) “a complaint from an unnamed player and his parents regarding his treatment by Leach after an undisclosed injury.”

I guess I jinxed Texas Tech when, only hours ago, I proclaimed that Tech only needs to show up to San Antonio in order to defeat Michigan State.  So much for that.

Don’t you have a Lubbock correspondent? I’d be curious as to what this is really all about. Is it possibly Leach decided to give Urban Meyer a break by giving life to a different crazy story?

I think our Lubbock correspondent is currently …. too DESPONDENT to be a correspondent.

    Clever wordplay! Bam!

At first, I didn’t know what to think of this. But so many former players have come out in support of Leach, I can’t help but side with them. Remember how many players came forward to support Mangino? None.

This is a power struggle between Leach and the Tech administration. The administration wants Leach to know who is in charge. I’m not sure why the want to provoke the ire of the fans. Tech will be out great coach and the admins will be out of their jobs.

Since I’m lazy, I will just copy and paste what Rex Richards, a former player at Tech, posted on his facebook page…..

“I played under Mike Leach for several seasons and during that duration recieved many injuries. The staff/coaches never were anything less than professional and compassionate about the healing process and the athletes well being. When I first heard about this story I thought it was a joke only to find out that it was really happening. Lets break this situation down and unravel what is really going on. First of all anyone that honestly thinks Leach would order this kid to be locked in a closet either is nuts or ignorant. Leach has a LAW DEGREE FROM PEPPERDINE. If that means nothing to you let me break it down in dumbass terms. HE weally smart! He knows the laws better than probably most practicing attorneys. So lets throw out that theory. If this kid was realy put in danger it would have been if Leach insisted that he practice with the concussion. When you are injured as a Red Raider Leach has you doing several things to be a part of the team. Its called Muscle Beach and it requires working out only if you are capable. Zero contact but some cardio and stretching. What this is all about is a spoiled *** little boy that isnt playing bc he is not good enough. Period. If it were any other athlete this would not have even made the school paper but since his daddy is a hotshot game announcer then it has to make national attention. What kind of selfish pieces of… well you know, get a coach suspended before many seniors last football game EVER? It makes me sick that Leach isnt with his team and this spoiled rotten brat is suited up with a team that probably has zero respect for him. People, Leach might say goofy things, throw the football alot, and other antics, but he definitely didnt do anything that should keep him away from his team before a big bowl game. James family: please remove your kid from our football team. You have worn out your welcome! Everybody lets support our Red Raiders at the Alamo bowl. Go team Leach!!!”

Tech will have a hard time finding a better coach, he had the perfect offense to make them very good, unless they make the perfect hire they are gonna struggle for a while.

He’s done officially. You don’t suspend the coach publicly without basically getting ready to fire him. You don’t kiss & make up after that.

Let’s celebrate and idolize Bobby Knight when he comes to Tech. Let’s all laugh and giggle when that crazy hothead throws salad bar lettuce at the school chancellor. But if a player with network connections files a complaint against the football coach, let’s hang him without a trial!!

On the radio yesterday, ESPN commentator Tommy Tuberville just so happened to get a full segment on ESPN Dallas radio so he could basically shamelessly campaign for the Tech job.

I guess the Mouse is now exerting the power to fire and hire college coaches. The whole thing is ridiculous.

If you haven’t read these emails yet, read it. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/img/12-09/1231leach.pdf

Yes, those emails are awesome. Like Leach said in his interview, I would like to see what the others say in the week up to the execution of his contract.
