We made it.
In case you haven’t heard, the Longhorns have won all of their football games so far this year. In doing so, they have earned the right to play a BONUS game on Saturday, for a chance to win the Big XII Championship! I can’t figure out what excites me more — bonus football, or the chance to add to the trophy case!
So here’s everything you need to know about this weekend’s ut-tailgaters.com tailgate.
* We will be located in Lot 10T. Click to see map. The “tailgate” spots are all located along the perimeter of lot 10, so we’ll be somewhere around there. We will have three spaces, which probably means 3 canopies set up. Or maybe 2 canopies and some space for grilling/cooking.
* Text me if you’re not the wandering adventurous sort and you need to know PRECISELY where we are set up.
* Do not text me before noon, because the parking lots DO NOT OPEN UNTIL NOON. This is a good thing. This means I finally get to sleep in on the day of a Longhorns game. This means you better watch out for me at 7pm because I will have far more energy than I usually do. Consider yourselves warned.
* If you do not have a parking pass yet, I wouldn’t even bother with trying to scrape together a parking pass this late in the game. Here are your other options (Use the above linked map for reference):
– Non-permit cash parking along Randol Mill west of Collins. There are some private businesses with parking lots a couple of blocks west of the Collins/Randol Mill intersection. They charge $20-$40 to park. If you don’t mind walking a bit, that’s a solid choice. There may also be other parking along other side streets, but I can’t confirm that.
– Cash parking by the Ballpark in Arlington (EAST of Jerryworld). The lots noted “A”, “B”, and “C” on the above map are, I believe, cash parking for this game. It’s about the same distance walk, maybe slightly longer, than the above sub-bullet.
– Parking in Lincoln Square. Lincoln Square is located north on Collins, very very close to I-30. This is a serious hike. But you can (allegedly) park there, spend at least $30 at any Lincoln Square business, put the receipt on your dash, and walk to the stadium. If you spend $30 at a cheap drink place like Swamp Daddy’s, you will be feeling good. Feeling good due to the cheap booze, not the food. Swamp Daddy’s is ranked #107 out of #169 Arlington restaurants on TripAdvisor, so consider yourself forewarned. Ask any Lincoln Square proprietors for more details about this parking deal.
* If you’re looking to bring anything to the tailgate, I’d suggest beer. Or cash. Beer will help us keep our supplies up (and I expect more “drive-by” traffic than usual, so we may give away some beer). Cash will help defray the costs of doing all this crap.
* Yes, we will have the TV. Yes, we will have the SEC Championship. It begins at 3pm.
* If you’re a random person who happens to find this page via google or somewhere else on the internet, and you don’t know us but you want to join us, please be aware of the following things:
– We likely won’t have a ton of space, so if you’re looking for a huge tailgate blowout, you probably want to go somewhere else, and
– We’re not going to have as much stuff (i.e. beer & food) as a home tailgate, so please BYOB or BYO$ and help us out.

i just got forwarded an email about a big ut tailgate party taking place right next to the wal mart (god, i hate arlington so much), essentially across the street from our parking lot. $10 cover charge and $2 16oz beers.
I wonder…if we run out of beer can we run across the street and order 40 16 oz beers to go?

For you Texas fans who will be attending the game, come out early and join your fellow Exes at Olenjack’s Grille in Arlington from 3 p.m. until kickoff.
We are excited to be doing a pre-game tailgate with the Dallas Texas Exes chapter.

The Texas longhorns have waited a solid year for this moment . It was this time last year that 0.0218 kept us out of this game.. Last year we where picked to have 3-4 losses, so when we started well and beat blow u we still had no expectatons , we where not suposed to be good.. well this year to dennis Green :this year ” We are who they thought we Where”
I believe Mack has done a great job keeping this team focused, it is much harder to be 12-0 when eveyone has already said u will be 12-0.. great job Mack.. well on to the game, the cornhuskers suck on offense our defense is still pretty good, that is the biggest mismatch in this game Nebraska cannot score and if u cannot score u cannot win. The cornhusker defense will create some plays but not enough Colt, lamar,Kindle,Shipley and the rest of the boys Kill the ghost of last years heartbrak and win this one 34-6 see u all in Pasadena and hookem Horns

We have no chance has already started.. i agree the last 2 weeks have not been our best, but bama plays one great game and they are the best team ever, what happendd to they cannot pass, and the fact they only had 68 yards rushing last week and had to score with a minute to go in the iron bowl..oh well it is gonna make for a good month of talk

OK, it’s been a little bit over two years, but I think you’ll remember me (who forgets a handsome face… just kidding… no, but seriously, my mom says I am handsome — always believe what your mom says). This is James from Panama, I used to set up my tent next to yours all of 2007, and I’d carry my entire setup on foot from my apartment a couple of blocks away until you took pity and used to give me a ride in your truck. Ah, the good days. Anyways, these days are even better… WE’RE GOING TO PASADENA!
My sister is a Pasadena resident and was lucky enough to get tickets in a lottery, which means I’m going to be in Pasadena for the NCG! (no spares though :/) Took me forever to track you guys down, but with the help of Google I was able to find this gem. I still have Matt’s phone number in my contacts still, but maybe he changed it b/c it goes to a voicemail I don’t recognize (817-***-5181).
Let me know if any of you guys are coming out to Cali, it would be an honor to tailgate with you.
James, great to hear from you! We’ll at least have partial representation out in California. We didn’t get all of the tickets we expected, so it’s a bit of a scramble right now.
